Khalid Rahman and fellow director Ashraf Hamza were arrested in Kochi on April 27, 2025, during a pre-dawn raid by the Excise Department at a flat rented by cinematographer Sameer Thahir. The directors were found in possession of 1.63 grams of hybrid cannabis, and both were released on station bail due to the small quantity seized. Following the arrest, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) suspended both directors from the Directors' Union pending further investigation.
