Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt warned in a new video interview for The New York Times that artificial intelligence systems are being trained to hijack human intimacy. He spoke about concerns over democracy and empathy in his role as the United Nations' global advocate for human-centric digital governance. The remarks came as he prepared to address world leaders at the UN on the impact of AI.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt called for a human-centred set of rules for artificial intelligence in an interview with UN News. He argued that AI should be governed by people and for people, and voiced concern about its effects on children's attention and relationships. His comments came during a week of global debate on AI guardrails at UN Headquarters.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt publicly responded to claims connecting him to Peter Thiel's invite-only Dialog society. He said he attended two Dialog conferences but denied knowing Thiel, meeting him, or having any relationship with him.

The United Nations appointed Joseph Gordon-Levitt as its first Global Advocate for Human-centric Digital Governance, a newly established role. In this role, he is expected to help strengthen public understanding of how digital technologies affect rights, opportunities, and everyday life.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt spoke out about online safety and urged stronger accountability from major technology companies over risks to children. He appeared at a bipartisan Washington news conference urging repeal of Section 230, arguing that major platforms are overly protected from user-generated harms.
