| Ashok Marutirao Kamte was an Indian Police Service officer of the Maharashtra cadre, known for his bravery, dedication, and exemplary service to the nation. He served as the Additional Commissioner of Police for the East Zone of Mumbai and was killed in action while confronting terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award, for his role in thwarting the terrorists' plans. |
