| Biography | Amir Hatami was born in 1966 in Zanjan, Iran. He began engaging in military activities at the young age of 14 by joining the Basij force. In 1984, he officially became part of the Iranian Army Ground Forces and gained significant military experience, particularly during the Iran–Iraq War. After the war, Hatami held various important positions within the military, including overseeing the Army's international relations and serving as a deputy in the Armed Forces General Staff. He was appointed as Iran's Minister of Defence in August 2017, making him the first Minister selected from the regular army in over two decades. |
