1. Vajubhai came from a middle-class Gujarati family.
2. In his teenage years, he showed an interest in politics and displayed leadership qualities.
3. As a high school student, he joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and helped his schoolmates resolve issues.
4. He participated in protests against Indira Gandhi’s Emergency in 1975 and spent 11 months in jail.
5. In 2007, the Government of Gujarat eliminated Octroi based on a recommendation from the Vajubai Vala Committee.
6. He was associated with RSS for 57 years.
7. He was BJP's first mayor of Rajkot.
8. He handled a major water crisis in Rajkot in 1986 by arranging water from nearby dams.
9. He was associated with Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank since 1971 and served as its Chairman from 1975-76 to 1981-82 and from 1987 to 1990.
10. He was the 12th Governor of Karnataka and served for nearly seven years, making him one of the longest-serving governors of that state.
