Latest News about Sam Cosgrove

12/10/2026

Cosgrove was cleared to play in Auckland FC's A-League Men season opener against Melbourne City after a regulatory loophole let him serve his two-match suspension in the National League. He had been sent off in the 87th minute of the club's 1-0 defeat to Al-Ahli in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in August 2025. Because he was registered with the club's National League squad, he missed the reserve matches against Wellington Olympic and Miramar Ranges instead.

19/08/2025

Auckland FC signed English striker Sam Cosgrove, who joined from Barnsley as a free agent ahead of the 2025/26 A-League Men season. He was given the number 9 shirt and was expected to bolster the attack under head coach Steve Corica. At the time he had scored 70 goals in 297 professional games.
