Ryan Breslow said Bolt was seeking up to $27 million in bridge funding as part of an effort to keep the company afloat and support its next financing round. He also said he was personally investing $5 million, weeks after returning as Bolt’s CEO in March 2025.

Reports followed that Bolt had reduced its workforce by roughly 30 percent and that Breslow defended the layoffs publicly. He said the company was operating in a leaner mode after his return as CEO in 2025, and that the HR team had been creating problems that did not exist.

Breslow drew attention after explaining that he had eliminated Bolt’s entire HR function as part of a broader restructuring of the company. He framed the move as part of a turnaround strategy for the fintech firm, which had been cutting costs and shrinking headcount.
