Latest News about Dan Houser
Dan Houser told IGN that Rockstar tried with two or three teams to build an open-world spy game, codenamed Agent, but it never came out. He said the team concluded that the concept was not one they could make work, adding that others could try but he thinks it is hard.
In a conversation with IGN, Houser reflected on Max Payne 3, which he described as a linear game that he enjoyed making. He said he felt the game did not achieve the success it deserved and took personal responsibility as one of the decision-makers and writers.
Houser said on Variety's Strictly Business podcast that he has not watched the Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay reveal, as he prefers to avoid anything that could distract him creatively. He said he no longer enjoys playing open-world games and that his Absurd Ventures staff play new releases on his behalf.
Dan Houser was reported to be preparing his first novel, expanding his work beyond video games into publishing. The project was tied to his post-Rockstar creative venture, Absurd Ventures, which had already been developing story-driven entertainment outside traditional game development.
