Latest News about Peres Jepchirchir
The Athletics Integrity Unit provisionally suspended Peres Jepchirchir after an out-of-competition sample collected in Kenya returned an adverse analytical finding for erythropoietin (EPO). The sample was taken before her Sydney Marathon win, and the organisers said they would make no further comment until the process concluded.
Jepchirchir withdrew from the 2026 TCS London Marathon after a stress fracture, sustained after the Valencia Marathon in December 2025, delayed her training. She said she had not had enough time to prepare to be competitive.
Jepchirchir won the women's marathon gold medal at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The victory made her the reigning world marathon champion.
