Jason William Mizell, better known as Jam Master Jay, was an American DJ, musician, and record producer.
He was the DJ of Run-DMC and is widely credited as one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.
Mizell was fatally shot in his Queens recording studio on October 30, 2002, and the case remained unsolved for over 20 years until convictions in 2024 and a guilty plea in 2026.
