Born in Warangal, Telangana, he achieved the Grandmaster title at the age of 14 years, 11 months, and 13 days in 2018, becoming the first GM from Telangana and the 54th from India. In September 2024, he became India's top-rated player, surpassing former world champion Viswanathan Anand. By December 2024, he reached a peak live rating of 2801, making him the 15th-highest rated player in history and the second Indian ever to cross the 2800 threshold after Anand. Magnus Carlsen nicknamed him 'the Mad Man' of chess due to his bold and unpredictable style. |
