Rishi Sunak is a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 25 October 2022 to 5 July 2024, making him the first British-Asian and first Hindu to hold the office. He was born in a Hindu family and grew up with two younger siblings – Sanjay Sunak and Rakhi. As a child, Rishi delivered medicines on a bicycle to help his mother run her pharmacy. His father was a general practitioner. Rishi worked part-time at an Indian restaurant in the UK. After completing his studies at Winchester College, he went to Oxford University where he pursued a degree in PPE. He also earned an MBA from Stanford University on a Fulbright scholarship. Before entering politics, he worked at Goldman Sachs and The Children's Investment Fund, and co-founded The Children's Investment Fund Management, an investment firm supporting British businesses. Following his defeat to Keir Starmer's Labour Party in the 2024 general election, he served as Leader of the Opposition from July to November 2024 and continues to serve as an MP.
