Political Journey	Entered politics through the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) in the early 1970s. Became an active leader of the Muslim Youth League and IUML in Ernakulam district in the 1980s. Served as Ernakulam district secretary/president of the Indian Union Muslim League in the 1990s. Elected MLA from Mattancherry for the first time in 2001. Served as Kerala Minister for Industries and Social Welfare from 2005 to 2006. Re-elected as MLA from Mattancherry in 2006. Elected MLA from Kalamassery in 2011 and re-elected in 2016, serving as Kerala Minister for Public Works during 2011-2016. Served as IUML state vice-president and senior party leader from 2016 to 2026.

V.K. Ebrahim Kunju was a significant political figure in Kerala for over forty years, rising through the ranks of the IUML.
Before embarking on his political journey, he was the chairman and chief executive of Forest Industries (Travancore) Ltd.
He was first elected in 2001 from Mattancherry and was the last MLA elected from there before constituency dissolution.
His tenure as Minister for Public Works saw the construction of 227 bridges worth Rs. 1600 crore across Kerala.
