Rani Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's mother, wrote to Sona Comstar and SEBI questioning the circumstances of his death and saying she had been left out of board decisions while the family was mourning. Ahead of the company's July 2025 annual general meeting, she also objected to the appointment of his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, as a non-executive director. Sona Comstar rejected her claims, stating that board decisions followed due process and shareholder approval.
