Capital Maritime Finance, a company led by Marinakis, began trading on the Athens stock exchange. On the same day, his Oslo-listed tanker arm Capital Tankers secured financing of about US$930 million for its newbuilding programme.
A Greek prosecutor opened an investigation after Marinakis had a physical and verbal altercation with politician Grigoris Dimitriadis at the EuroLeague Final Four game between Olympiacos and Real Madrid in Athens. Footage showed him with a torn shirt during the confrontation.
Marinakis went on trial in Athens alongside four Olympiacos board members, accused of instigating violence and supporting a criminal group linked to club fans. He and the board members deny the misdemeanour charges, which his lawyer called totally baseless.
