Shyam Saran Negi was an Indian school teacher from Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh, who cast the first vote in India's first general election as an independent nation on 25 October 1951. He voted in every general election, state assembly election, and local body election from 1951 until his death in 2022, casting a total of 34 votes. He was believed to be India's oldest voter and remained dedicated to the democratic process throughout his life.
