Some Lesser Known Facts

In 2001, Rakibul contested the Assam Legislative Assembly elections as an Indian National Congress candidate, winning a seat in the Samaguri constituency.
He served as a Minister of State for Home, Border Area, and Hajj during the first term of the Tarun Gogoi government from 2002 to 2006.
Rakibul was re-elected from the Samaguri constituency in the years 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021.
From 2021 to 2024, he held the position of Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
He was a Cabinet Minister from 2006 to 2016 under Tarun Gogoi, overseeing departments like Forest and Environment, Panchayat and Rural Development, Tourism, and Information and Public Relations.
In 2015, he was appointed president of the All India Carrom Federation.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he won the Dhubri constituency by a significant margin against AIUDF candidate Badruddin Ajmal.
