Q Manivannan is an Indian-origin politician and scholar who was elected as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Edinburgh and Lothians East in May 2026. They are one of the first two openly transgender people elected to the Scottish Parliament, alongside fellow Scottish Greens MSP Iris Duane. Manivannan identifies as nonbinary and queer, and does not hold British citizenship or permanent residency but was eligible to stand for election as a Commonwealth citizen under Scottish electoral rules.
