Pranjal Lahensingh Patil is India's first visually impaired woman to hold the position of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. She lost her vision at the age of six but pursued her education with determination, completing her schooling at Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the Blind in Mumbai and earning degrees in Political Science, International Relations, and a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

1. Pranjal became visually impaired at six years old due to weak eyesight and prolonged exposure to sunlight.
2. Supported by her parents, she continued her education despite losing vision in both eyes.
3. To overcome her visual impairment, Pranjal used screen reading software and had a writer for exams.
4. In 2017, she made history by securing Air 124 in the UPSC exam, becoming the first blind category woman to become an IAS officer.
5. Pranjal admires the works of Daisaku Ikeda and Stephen Hawking.
6. She completed her IAS training at LBSNAA and went on to become India's first visually impaired IAS officer.
7. At her brother's wedding event, Pranjal participated in an organ donation pledge.
8. In her first UPSC attempt in 2016, she secured the 744th rank.
9. She prepared for UPSC exams without any coaching, using special software to read study materials aloud.
10. The Indian Railways had initially rejected her job application on the grounds of visual impairment.
