Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, also known by his initials NFAK, was a Pakistani singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music director primarily associated with qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music from Pakistan and India. He is considered one of the greatest performers of qawwali, characterized by simple melodies, forceful rhythms, and energetic improvisations that encourage a state of euphoria in the listener.
