Maneka Gandhi is an Indian politician, animal rights activist, and environmentalist.
She was married to Late Sanjay Gandhi.
Currently, she is in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and serves as the Union Minister for Women & Child Development in the Narendra Modi Government.
She graduated from Lady Sri Ram College for Women, New Delhi.
Furthering her studies, she pursued German at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
While in college, she engaged in modeling assignments.
Her modeling career took off when she landed a Bombay Dyeing advertisement.
In 1983, Maneka established her own party, Rashtriya Sanjay Manch.
She founded the organization People For Animals in 1992.
