Career

Appointed Peshwa at the age of 16 in 1761 following the Third Battle of Panipat and death of his father Balaji Baji Rao.
Defeated Nizam at Battle of Rakshasbhuvan on 07/03/1763, securing North Karnataka.
Led multiple expeditions against Hyder Ali of Mysore, defeating him in 1764, 1767 (battles of Sira and Madgiri), and 1771-1772, reaching Srirangapattam.
Rescued Queen Virammaji and her son of Keladi Nayaka Kingdom in 1767.
Reformed administration by curbing corruption, modernizing weapons, and attending to public grievances with aid from Nana Fadnavis.

1. Madhavrao Peshwa I led the Maratha Empire's restoration post losses in the third battle of Panipat in 1761.
2. He faced conflict with his uncle, Raghunathrao, amidst the early Nizam-Maratha Empire wars.
3. Madhavrao triumphed over the Kingdom of Mysore and defeated Hyder Ali in 1764.
4. In a war against Raghunathrao, he placed his uncle under house arrest.
5. He survived an assassination attempt by Raghunathrao in 1769.
6. Madhavrao succumbed to tuberculosis in 1772.
7. His wife, Ramabai, passed away in the same year by practicing Sati.
8. Regarded as one of the most eminent Peshwas in Maratha Empire's history.
