  • He was criticized for making derogatory remarks about Imam Hussain and Hindu deities during a Kavi Sammelan; for which he made an apology later.
  • An F.I.R. was lodged against him by an AAP volunteer for molesting her making sexual comments.
  • In February 2023, during an event in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, he received flak from the BJP and RSS after he called RSS members “illiterate.” He said, "One are leftist, who are ill-informed. They have studied everything but have studied wrongly; And the other one is [RSS], they haven't studied at all." Later, he issued a clarification and said that his words were misinterpreted.

1. He was born into a Gaur Brahmin family in Pilkhuwa, Ghaziabad.
2. His father, Dr. Chandra Pal Sharma, worked as a lecturer at R.S.S. Degree College in Pilkhuwa, linked to Chaudhary Charan Singh University of Meerut.
3. Despite his father's wish for him to pursue engineering, his love for poetry led him to obtain a Master’s Degree in Hindi Literature.
4. Upon earning his Ph.D. in Hindi Literature, he began his career as a lecturer in Rajasthan in 1994.
5. He is renowned for his poetry in the Shringara-Ras (Romantic Genre).
6. Not only a poet, he also pens lyrics for various TV serial theme songs.
7. In 2011, he actively supported the anti-corruption movement initiated by Anna Hazare.
8. He aligned with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership and contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election against Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
