Harish Salve is a prominent senior advocate who practices at the Supreme Court of India. He is recognized as one of India's leading lawyers specializing in constitutional, commercial, and taxation law.
He served as the Solicitor General of India from 1 November 1999 to 3 November 2002, becoming the youngest ever Solicitor General at the age of 43 years.
On 16 January 2020, he was appointed as a King's Counsel for the courts of England and Wales. He was admitted to the English Bar in July 2013 and joined Blackstone Chambers.
Salve has represented India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, where his arguments led to a provisional stay on Jadhav's death sentence.
He is a member of various international arbitration bodies including the Permanent Court of International Arbitration (nominated by India), the London Court of International Arbitration, and the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
