Latest News about Gemma Chan
Gemma Chan was left off the announced cast list for the Crazy Rich Asians HBO sequel series, which kept several returning cast members. At the 2026 BFI London Film Festival screening of Josephine, she said she loves the film and its cast and hopes to return as Astrid, but she has not confirmed her involvement.
Chan gave an update on her planned biopic of Anna May Wong, Hollywood's first Chinese-American movie star. She said the project, developed with Working Title Films and producer Nina Yang Bongiovi, is still in development and that a script exists.
Josephine, a thriller drama starring Chan and Channing Tatum and directed by Beth de Araújo, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the Dramatic competition, and it later had its international premiere in the main competition at the Berlin International Film Festival.
