The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a fresh case against former GAIL director E. S. Ranganathan for allegedly amassing assets worth more than Rs 4.82 crore between 2017 and 2022, disproportionate to his known income. The agency said the new FIR followed scrutiny of his assets after his earlier arrest in a bribery case involving alleged discounts to private companies buying petrochemical products from GAIL.
