General Dhiraj Seth is the 31st Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, having assumed command on 30 June 2026. He is the first officer from the Armoured Corps to head the Indian Army since General Shankar Roychowdhury (1994–1997). He holds the distinctions of Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM), and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM).
General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM is a serving four-star general officer of the Indian Army. He is the current and 31st Chief of the Army Staff.
He previously served as the 49th Vice Chief of the Army Staff and earlier served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command; General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command; General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area; and General Officer Commanding, XXI Corps.
He was commissioned into the 2nd Lancers (Gardner's Horse) on 20 December 1986 from the Indian Military Academy.
