The Supreme Court granted bail to Arun Gawli in the 2007 murder case of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar, after he had served nearly 18 years in prison including a life sentence upheld by the Bombay High Court in 2019. Gawli, convicted under MCOCA provisions along with others, was released from Nagpur Central Jail on terms set by the trial court. The 76-year-old gangster-turned-politician, founder of Akhil Bharatiya Sena and former MLA from Chinchpokli, walked free after challenging the high court's verdict.
