04/09/2026 A BBC report said a by-election was set for the Farsley and Calverley ward after a councillor stepped down. The vote was scheduled for 22 October 2026, with counting to take place the same evening at Leeds Civic Hall.
03/09/2026 Peter Carlill, Labour councillor for Calverley and Farsley, announced his resignation from Leeds City Council citing ongoing health difficulties. He had been elected in 2018 and served as the council's executive member for transport and planning, as well as deputy chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's transport committee. A by-election was subsequently called for the ward.
