Latest News about Luis Gil
Reports indicate Gil may be non-tendered by the Yankees or traded before the November 20 deadline, as the Cincinnati Reds look for starting pitching this offseason. Gil appeared in nine games for New York in 2026, including four starts.
The Yankees recalled Luis Gil from the Florida Complex League on October 8, 2026, reversing a late-September assignment made after the team's Division Series elimination. The move came as the Yankees were evaluating their roster following the postseason exit.
The Yankees promoted Gil from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on August 30, 2026, ending a stretch without a major league appearance since late April. He had returned from a right shoulder issue and posted a 3.00 ERA in four minor league outings before the call-up.
