The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir reopened the 1990 murder case of Sarla Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit nurse, nearly 36 years after her abduction and killing. Investigators filed a 737-page chargesheet naming Yasin Malik, the former chief of the banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), as the key accused in planning and executing her abduction, along with four accomplices: Khursheed Ahmad Chalkoo, Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Ghulam Mohammad Taploo, and Mohammad Yousuf Sofi. The agency confirmed that three of the accused are deceased, while Chalkoo is believed to have fled to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
