Ritabrata Banerjee was expelled from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in June 2026 for alleged anti-party activities, shortly after he and fellow MLA Sandipan Saha complained that their signatures were forged in party communication endorsing Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay as Leader of Opposition. The party cited his repeated failure to attend meetings and involvement in anti-party activities as grounds for expulsion.
