Congress MLA Vinay Rajashekharappa Kulkarni was convicted by the Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru in the 2016 murder case of BJP leader Yogesh Gowda. The court held Kulkarni and 16 other co-accused guilty of criminal conspiracy, sentencing him to life imprisonment.
The Karnataka Legislative Assembly officially disqualified Vinay Kulkarni from his membership as MLA representing the Dharwad constituency effective from 15 April 2026, following his conviction.
