Michaela Benthaus became the first wheelchair user to reach space on December 20, 2025, aboard Blue Origin's NS-37 suborbital rocket from West Texas. The 10-minute flight reached over 105 km altitude, crossing the Kármán line and providing more than three minutes of weightlessness. She transferred independently from her wheelchair into the capsule using a transfer board and flew with crew including Hans Koenigsmann, Joey Hyde, Neal Milch, Adonis Pouroulis, and Jason Stansell.
