Harsh was born into a middle-class family.
He developed an interest in cricket after seeing children practice while on a wrong turn to school.
His father worked in the CISF but left his job to support Harsh's training.
He trained at local clubs before achieving recognition.
He was the highest wicket-taker in the 2019-2020 Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy season.
In June 2022, he scored 116 runs in 107 balls for MRC-A in the TNCA Division Finals.
He signed a contract with SG Cricket in July 2022.
In June 2023, he attended the Under-23 NCA Emerging Camp in Pondicherry.
He gained fame in the 2024-2025 Ranji Trophy season as the highest wicket-taker, leading Vidarbha to victory, and broke a long-standing record by taking 69 wickets.
He also scored 476 runs, earning the title of Man of the Tournament.
Despite going unsold in the 2023 and 2024 IPL auctions, he was acquired by SunRisers Hyderabad in 2025 as a replacement for an injured player.
