SummaryEric Michael Swalwell Jr. is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative from California's 14th congressional district since 2023, having previously represented the 15th district from 2013 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, his district covers most of eastern Alameda County.
Political CareerElected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, defeating 40-year incumbent Pete Stark. Took office on January 3, 2013. Served eight years on the House Intelligence Committee as chairman and ranking member overseeing the CIA. Helped lead the House investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and participated in both impeachments of Donald Trump. Appointed as House Impeachment Manager for Trump's Senate trial in 2021. Currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees.
