The Blackhawks announced that Bedard would become the team’s next captain, making him one of the youngest captains in franchise history. The move formalized his status as the centerpiece of Chicago’s long-term rebuild.
Connor Bedard was placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury in a late-game faceoff against the St. Louis Blues. Chicago said he would miss the rest of December and be reevaluated in January, with no immediate decision made on whether surgery would be needed.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard began negotiating a new contract once he became eligible to sign his next deal. The discussions confirmed that the franchise intends to continue building around the 2023 No. 1 overall pick.
