  • He began his political career by contesting the election for the membership of Chautala Village Panchayat.

He is the son of Om Prakash Chautala, the former Chief Minister of Haryana for five terms.
Initially, he began his political journey as the "Upsarpanch" of the Chautala village panchayat before gaining prominence in the 2000 state assembly elections, winning from the Rori Assembly Constituency of Haryana.
