Assam commenced its year-long celebration of the birth centenary of legendary musician Bhupen Hazarika, with inaugural events scheduled in New Delhi and Guwahati. The state government announced the construction of a dedicated memorial structure and plans to release a biographical book edited by Anuradha Sharma Pujari in 1 million copies, with commemorative programmes also organized in Arunachal Pradesh, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

The Assam government announced a year-long celebration from September 8, 2025, to September 8, 2026, to mark the birth centenary of musical maestro Bhupen Hazarika. A 50-member committee, headed by the chief minister, was formed to plan events across India, including a biography release and a commemorative coin.
