Latest News about Alejandro Balde
Balde is reportedly weighing a January departure because of limited playing time under Flick, with Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart preferred at left-back. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona would only sanction a sale for a significant permanent fee, and agent Jorge Mendes is exploring other options. The left-back has played only a handful of minutes this season, though injuries to Jules Koundé and Eric García may open a route back into the side for the Champions League trip to PSG.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick told Balde he needed to improve and be fully committed after the defender had signalled he was open to leaving during the summer window. Balde was left out of the squad for the opening league win over Elche, and Manchester United were among the clubs that had sounded out a move. Balde ultimately stayed at the club and wants to fight for his place.
