Dipak Misra is an Indian jurist who served as the 45th Chief Justice of India from 28 August 2017 to 2 October 2018.
He also served as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and the Delhi High Court.
He is the nephew of former Chief Justice of India, Ranganath Misra.
He led the bench that upheld the death sentence of the Nirbhaya case convicts.
He is known as an ardent supporter of Legal Aid for All.
He served as the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
His bench lifted the ban on women's entry into the Sabarimala temple in Kerala.
His bench decriminalized adultery and homosexuality in India.
He was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 10 October 2011.
