A California appeals court unanimously ruled that the HBO series The Pitt is similar enough to ER to let the Crichton estate's breach-of-contract lawsuit against Warner Bros. Television proceed. The panel rejected the studio's bid to dismiss the case under anti-SLAPP rules. The dispute, brought by his widow Sherri Crichton on behalf of the John Michael Crichton Trust, could now go to a Los Angeles jury trial as early as summer 2027 unless the parties settle.
