Latest News about Patrick Vieira
Vieira was formally presented as Senegal's new head coach at a press conference in Dakar, which the federation had scheduled for this date at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium. He described the role as a deeply personal homecoming and launched a four-year cycle aimed at building toward 2030. He also named his first 29-man squad, which left out forward Sadio Mane because of a physical issue.
The Senegalese Football Federation appointed Patrick Vieira as head coach of the senior national team, replacing Pape Thiaw after Senegal's Round of 32 exit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 50-year-old, a Dakar-born former France international, becomes the first international management role of his coaching career. The federation said the official presentation and contract details would be announced later.
