The High Court's handling of a legal challenge to Sarah Pochin's six-vote win at the Runcorn and Helsby by-election was upheld on appeal. Graham Moore, a candidate from the English Constitution Party, had lodged an election petition asking for the result to be declared void and an independent recount. Pochin and the returning officer had sought to have the petition dismissed, but three senior judges dismissed their appeal, although they noted defects in the petition.
