Latest News about Sally Rooney
Faber & Faber announced it will no longer supply Sally Rooney's books in the UK in any format. The publisher said UK legislation banning Palestine Action means it cannot pass UK earnings on to her, and it will continue selling her works in other territories. Rooney had pledged to give earnings from her work to Palestine Action, which the UK government has proscribed as a terrorist organisation.
Rooney agreed to a Hebrew edition of Intermezzo through November Books, an Israeli publisher she said meets BDS criteria. She has refused since 2021 to sell Hebrew translation rights to Israeli publishers that do not meet the movement's guidelines.
