Latest News about Noah Lyles
Noah Lyles ended his 2026 season early because of an injury that began with a left hamstring strain at the U.S. nationals in July. He withdrew from the Ultimate Championships in Budapest, where the $150,000 first prizes were on offer, and he said a strain had caused other problems that made it hard to keep training. He stayed on in Budapest in a role as emcee and creative adviser.
Lyles won the U.S. 100 metres title at the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships in New York with a world-leading 9.79 seconds, matching his personal best. The performance reaffirmed his status as one of the fastest sprinters in the world and extended his dominance in the event.
Lyles set a world best of 14.67 seconds in the rarely run 150 metres at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic. He beat Sinesipho Dambile of South Africa, while Australian teenager Gout Gout finished third.
Lyles won his fourth consecutive world 200 metres title at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, matching Usain Bolt's record for the event. The victory further strengthened his legacy as one of the greatest 200 metres runners in championship history.
