FC Barcelona and Xavi Espart agreed a contract extension that keeps him at the club through 30 June 2030. The deal was reported as a reward for his progress through La Masia. The contract was set to be formally signed at the club offices in the following days.

FC Barcelona promoted Xavi Espart to the senior squad ahead of the 2026–27 season after his progression through La Masia and Barcelona Atlètic. Reports described him as a versatile defender and midfielder who had been at the club since 2015, when he joined from UE Vilassar de Mar at U8 level. He was also linked with wearing a first-team shirt number in league competition.

Spanish and international sports coverage highlighted Xavi Espart as one of Barcelona's emerging academy talents after his first-team breakthrough began drawing attention. The reports focused on his background at La Masia, his ability to play on the right side of defense or in midfield, and the comparisons being made because of his tactical maturity.

Xavi Espart made his first-team debut for FC Barcelona on 10/03/2026, coming on as a substitute in the Champions League round of 16 first leg at Newcastle United. Barcelona drew the tie level late in the match, with Lamine Yamal scoring the equaliser from a penalty. The appearance was a milestone for the La Masia graduate.
