The case was registered as murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint by Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal.

Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old director at Success Group Pune and fiancé of Siya Goyal, was murdered on June 18 at Lohagad Fort near Pune. Police allege he was pushed into a 400-foot gorge as part of a conspiracy involving his fiancée and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and remanded to police custody.
