Latest News about Parastoo Ahmadi
An Iranian appeals court rejected Ahmadi's appeal against the 74 lashes and the two-year work and travel ban, which made the sentence final. The decision also covered seven members of her team, while one other team member did not file an appeal. International observers criticised the ruling as an example of Iran criminalising artistic activity.
Reports in mid-June 2026 said a court in Qom had sentenced singer Parastoo Ahmadi and eight members of her production team to 74 lashes over a hijabless concert livestreamed on her YouTube channel in 2024. The ruling also imposed a two-year ban on leaving Iran and a two-year ban on artistic activity. Human rights groups said the case reflected an escalating crackdown on Iranian artists.
