While traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam, his Innova car collided with an oncoming truck at Puthussery, Adoor, around 6:15–6:30 AM; he suffered critical chest injuries and later a heart attack while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Adoor, leading to his death.
